Pregnancy is the stage in women’s life which adds happiness to their life. This also contributes in many physiological, pathological, mental, and social changes in their life. Ayurveda creates supports for pre pregnancy, antenatal care and post natal care. This care we should incorporate in our daily regimes.  There are very specific recommendations to bring about a state of balance in the consciousness, mind, body, behavior, and environment of the pregnant woman.   Taking a bath after you have undergone delivery is known to bring a wide range of benefits to the mother, from emotional to physical as well. But we should be careful that post pregnancy bath should be very carefully to start. As any infection or injury during that will directly hamper to your delicate body and baby as well. Avoid These Skincare Mistakes In 2021

Among the organs of the body, the skin is one of the first to bear the brunt of sun, wind, cold, heat, humidity and pollution, leading to problems like sun tan, sunburn, dark patches, blackheads, pimples, acne, rash, dryness of skin-sensitivity. Common skincare mistakes can actually aggravate these problems. A skincare regimen should be devised according to the skin type and according to the seasons. Sometimes our skin needs toners and refreshers to close the pores, remove sweat deposits and refresh the skin. On the other hand, sometimes our skin needs moisturisers and emollients. We follow many skincare routines that not only disturb our skin but can cause many problems in the skin.   Here are few common skincare mistakes we all should avoid:   Avoid using harsh astringent lotions for oily skin. This can disrupt the normal balances. An astringent is useful in summer, especially for oily skin, as it reduces oiliness and prevents clogging of the pores. If it is too harsh, mix the astringent lotion with rose water in equal quantities and keep in an airtight bottle in the fridge.   Not taking your makeup off – Makeup helps to clog the pores only if we do not take it off properly. Every night, make sure to wash off your makeup and ensure you double cleanse so no residue is left off. Make sure to use brushes and sponges that aren’t used on other people. If the skin is oily, dirt and pollutants adhere to the skin. So, avoid touching the face with your hands. The hands actually carry germs and bacteria, conveying them to facial skin and leading to eruptive skin problems. If there is acne, it can get aggravated by touching the face.   Taking long showers – Skincare routine starts with cleansing and if we do this step wrong, then all other things don’t really matter. Taking long showers, especially hot ones end up stripping the skin off its natural oils. This dry skin then becomes prone to fine lines and wrinkles.   Avoid applying nourishing cream for normal to oily skin. Even for normal to dry skin, smothering the skin with cream and leaving it on all night does not help. The pores should be free of cream, so that the skin can “breathe.” Whether summer or winter, avoid leaving cream around the eyes all night. This can lead to puffy eyes. Wipe off the cream around your eyes gently, after 15 minutes, with moist cotton wool.   Skipping out on sunscreen – No matter what your skin type is what season you’re in, never miss out on sunscreen. It is one of the most important steps in any skincare routine. It not only protects your skin from the harmful UV rays of the sun but also works as a protective layer against all other environmental factors like pollution.   Most people with oily skin tend to wash their face frequently with soap and water, in the effort to reduce the oily look. This is actually a mistake. The soap may be too alkaline in nature and too much soap-and-water washing can disrupt the normal acid-alkaline (pH) balance of the skin. This leaves the skin prone to pimples and acne.   If you think that oily skin produces enough oils to moisturise the skin, you’re wrong. The sebaceous glands produce natural oils to compensate for the dryness. So, always apply sunscreen and moisturizer even if you have oily skin. Make sure to use a water-based moisturiser instead of a cream-based.   Our skin always needs to breathe. So overdoing it with serums, creams, products and masks will only confuse the skin. Make sure you use minimal ingredients and products that give maximum benefits. Don’t over-exfoliate and give your products some time to work before you switch them. Make sure to apply your products from the lightest of consistency to heaviest.   Inputs Provided By:   Dr. Nivedita Dadu   Renowned Dermatologist, Founder & Chairman of Dr. Nivedita Dadu’s Dermatology Clinic, the most trusted skincare clinic in Delhi NCR given to its world class dermatology treatments.   (https://www.drniveditadadu.com/),

SKINCARE TIPS TO FOLLOW DURING PREGNANCY

BY DR. AJAY RANA The most beautiful phase in every woman’s life is nine months of her pregnancy period. It is the phase where the woman experiences a lot of joy, happiness and excitement. During the nine months of pregnancy period, women go through lots of chances be it physical or emotional. Pregnancy also brings along some hormonal changes that can lead to many skin problems. pregnancy-related hormone changes also bring about skin issues such as frequent breakouts of acne, itchy skin, and pigmentation that are generally temporary but can cause a lot of trouble. During the pregnancy, some women glow like anything while many looked pale and dull. To cope up with the skin problems during this period, you need to maintain a beauty routine to achieve a great glow on your face.   Here are some tips you can follow during pregnancy for healthy skin:   During pregnancy, it is very common to experience itching, especially on the abdomen area, as the blood supply to the skin increases. So avoid using any chemical products. Instead use natural products such as aloe vera gel, almond oil, and coconut oil to keep your skin soft, supple, healthy and nourished..   During pregnancy, your body needs to stay hydrated all the time for a natural and beautiful glow on your face. This will prevent your skin from drying out. This will also help to flush out all the toxins from your body. Good amount of water will ensure sufficient amniotic fluid in your body which is important for the comfort of your baby.   Many pregnant women develop itchy and persistent stretch marks especially on the belly and breast areas during pregnancy. To reduce these stretch marks, apply topical creams on high-risk areas, such as the stomach, throughout the pregnancy. You can also use natural moisturizer, such as coconut oil, olive oil, or aloe vera gel, early in your pregnancy to get the best results.   If somebody’s skin is oily and acne prone, there are high chances that she will experience worse breakouts during the first trimester of pregnancy. So use a product that contains glycolic acid, alpha hydroxy acid, topical erythromycin after the recommendation of a dermatologist.   Always exfoliate your skin with a scrub two or three times a week. Make sure you wash your face with a good face wash every day. Some homemade face packs will also work for a natural glow on the face.   Due to hormonal changes during the pregnancy, some women experience pigmentation on cheeks, forehead, neck, and even on the armpits. To reduce these pigmentation, apply lemon juice mixed with cucumber juice on the spots a few times a day. You can also use a honey oat mask for exfoliation followed by a face pack made of turmeric and raw milk to lighten the spots on the skin.   The most important skin-care routine to follow during pregnancy is to moisturize your skin with at least SPF 15, and with broad spectrum protection that works against both UVA and UVB rays. During the pregnancy, elevated hormone levels trigger the multiplication of pigment cells, which causes facial blotchiness,, to avoid this discoloration use sunscreen daily.   Many pregnant women have dry skin, hair fall, cracked lips and heels at some stage during their pregnancy. Milk cream, coconut oil, and wheat germ oil are especially useful for combating dry and cracked skin during this time. Also, apply wheat germ oil which is a rich source of essential vitamins and fatty acids, to your nipples to prevent dryness.   The writer is a world renowned Dermatologist and Aesthetic Physician. CARE AND CURE IN BEAUTY INDUSTRY CAN ALWAYS BRING BETTER RESULTS- DR. NARESH ARORA

We are realizing the importance of natural and chemical-free skincare products, more and more with every passing day. Not only do the chemicals from various products damage the skin in long-run, but they also bring various health issues with them. The use of Aromatherapy in skincare dates back to about 6,000 years. Many of our ancestors have used aromatherapy to make cosmetics and perfumes and in therapeutic and spiritual healing.   A prominent Indian company, leading the revolution of using aromatherapy in skincare, is Chase Aromatherapy Cosmetics. Its founder, Dr. Naresh Arora, the renowned Aromatherapist and Naturopath, has led it to become a popular beauty brand and is the secret behind its growing success.   Here are the excerpts from an interview with Dr. Naresh Arora…   How aromatherapy cosmetics going to rule the world in the years to come in the post Covid era? Nature itself is a healer and you don’t require anything except air, mud, water and diet, of course, to heal any disease. Beauty industry has always been into semi-nursing, alternate remedies, and care. However, this industry lacks proper knowledge and understanding of the products derived from natural resources and their proper usage. Amalgamation of two different sides of care and cure in beauty industry can always bring better results throughout the world. One can create better results by using natural ingredients for eradicating diseases from the roots and thus, bringing out actual beauty that one can possess.   How can we promote aromatherapy products? Education is the best way to promote aromatherapy products across the world. Being a person who has been in the counseling to the beauty professionals, especially in the field of aromatherapy and body aesthetics, it is important to educate people to make use of plant resources (Aroma Essential Oils) for enhancing the beauty. Transforming someone who has always been using international beauty products to use the natural oils (producing slow, but lasting results), it will be a slow, long and gradual process.   What prompted you to launch your own line of aromatherapy products? When I started my professional teachings in the beauty industry, I always faced problems since good quality beauty products based on natural aroma oils were not available. All the beauty products were being manufactured with either synthetic perfumes or essences.  To create the niche about the natural aromatherapy based product line, I had to start my own manufacturing unit in New Delhi, which has since grown to cater the ever increasing demand for natural and organic product line.   What sets your range of products apart from other beauty products? Natural plant sources, including aroma essential oils and vitamins, instead of hard chemical-based skin peeling raw materials, make up the natural active ingredient of Chase Brand Cosmetic Range and even the base chemical ingredients are of highest quality so that an effective, ameliorating, and non-allergenic range of products could be offered in the market. BEAUTY GOES VOCAL FOR LOCAL – Arpita Das

“It is mandatory to follow the guidelines issued by B&WSCC” –Arpita Das   During this distressful time in account of Covid-19 all our demands were met locally. It is time we recognize the importance of local manufacturing, local markets and local supply chains. Our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi emphasized in his speech about the huge market India has and how we can help support and grow together. He made a new slogan “Vocal for local” which means to buy local products and to speak about it and promote it.   The current leading brands of the world were once local and they received all the love and support by their people which made them a global brand.   So if we do the same for our people, I believe we have the potential to take our local products global. When it comes to Beauty and wellness Industry, India has come a long way. There are many Local brands that have amazing products and these products works wonder on your skin and are also much affordable.   People now-a-days take good care of their skin and with knowledge just one click away people are getting aware of the healthy choices available.   Arpita Das is a highly qualified beauty professional with a passion for training and education. She possesses rich international experience of working with many reputed salons and spas in the USA and India, while advancing her expertise in skincare. Being the director of premier beauty & wellness consulting company in India, named “Beauness By Arpita”, her aim is to guide the professionals to run the show with the correct intent and the right skills.   Further talking about the impact of Covid-19 in beauty & wellness sector she clearly mentions to follow the guidelines issued by the B&WSCC. Here’s the excerpt from an interview-     What is the mandatory new normal for beauty & wellness industry? The mandatory new normal for beauty & wellness industry is to strictly follow the guidelines given by the B&WSSC (Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council) on health, safety and hygiene. This includes every little detail from wearing a mask to getting the services done in a PPE (personal protective equipment) suit.   Awareness about social distancing and maintaining hygiene among the salon staff should be the priority. It is best to keep at least 1m distance between arrangements and among salon staff. Appointments and consultations should be given virtual. Appointments should be given at certain time intervals to avoid excess crowd at once. When it comes to hygiene standard procedures are being followed from a bottle of hand sanitizer kept at the entrance to regular cleansing of salon floors and use of disinfectants etc.     Being an educator in aesthetics, how safe is to get any professional facial treatment at salon? It is as safe as getting any services before the Covid-19 pandemic, given the condition that the salon professional are following all the guidelines given by the government. Speaking specifically about facial treatment it may come to a lot of people’s mind that the therapist will be in very close contact with your face and it’s a risk of getting infected, so let’s avoid it and let’s not opt for it but mark my words that it is very important that you get your facial done on regular basis and let me assure you that there are many ways a therapist can do a safe facial treatment by maintaining a reasonable distance, following all precautionary measures, sanitizing each and every little products  that will be used upon and will be around the client and lastly but not the least one can always opt for no touch facials in which the therapist does the facial with the help of a machine and touches the client to the minimum and also wears vinyl  gloves.   I have done so many facial till now on my clients and they feel very safe and with great results on their skin. There are multiple salon essentials disposable kits available in the market. So as long as safety is priority there is no reason not to get professional treatments at salon.     Is education and academy sector in beauty is going towards digital. How online course will be integrated? The Covid-19 pandemic has affected academic institutions across the world and we are no exception. This outbreak has led many institutions to adopt several of the following available digital technologies. The live sessions, online meets, recorded video lectures for the students to view all contribute to digital learning. So a lot can be done when it comes to digital learning. Notes and content related to the courses can be provided through email, WhatsApp, etc.   The only problem I feel is with practical experience as one on one learning environment makes a huge difference when it comes to practical learning and also not every student has the sources to do and actually perform practical at their place.
